The short version
Standard hunts are non-refundable once we send your access link. Bespoke hunts can be rescheduled but are not refundable. If we are the ones who can't deliver your hunt, you get a new date or your money back. Details are in Section 4.
Every player signs our participant waiver before joining a hunt. Prices are shown before NYC sales tax, which is added at checkout.

1. Who we are
Vounia is run by Vounia LLC, a New York limited liability company ("Vounia," "we," "us"). These Terms apply to vounia.com, play.vounia.com, our intake form, and every hunt we sell or run (together, the "Service"). By booking a hunt or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
You must be 18 or older to book a hunt. Players under 18 can take part only with a parent or guardian, as described in the waiver.
2. What Vounia is
Vounia is a self-guided scavenger hunt through real places in New York City. You solve clues on your phone to find each stop. We offer two kinds of hunt:
- Standard: a ready-made route that is the same for everyone who books it.
- Bespoke: a route we build around the answers you give in our intake form.
Players join with a room code on play.vounia.com. No app download is needed. A hunt is an activity on public streets and in businesses. Vounia staff do not accompany your group.
3. Pricing, tax, and payment
| Hunt | Price per person |
|---|---|
| Standard (any group size) | $20 |
| Bespoke, groups of 2 to 5 | $40 |
| Bespoke, groups of 6 or more | $33 |
Prices are shown before tax. New York City sales tax (currently 8.875%) is added at checkout, and you'll see the full total before you pay. Payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
The price covers the hunt only. It does not include food, drinks, transit, or anything you buy at a stop. You book for a headcount, and you are responsible for making sure everyone who plays is covered by the booking.
4. Refunds and rescheduling
Standard hunts: non-refundable once your access link has been sent.
Bespoke hunts: can be rescheduled, but are not refundable.
Rescheduling a Bespoke hunt
Email harshvaish@vounia.com as early as you can with your booking name and a few dates that work, and we'll move your hunt at no extra charge. Because we build each Bespoke route around your group and the stops' opening hours, a new date may mean small changes to the route.
If we can't deliver
If Vounia cancels a hunt, or we are unable to deliver the hunt you booked, we will offer you a new date. If a new date doesn't work for you, we'll refund what you paid for that hunt.
Weather, closures, and things outside our control
Hunts run outdoors in a real city. Weather, street closures, and venue changes happen. We may adjust a route or a stop, and you may choose to pause or stop, but these things alone don't entitle you to a refund. See the waiver for how changes during a hunt are handled.
Mistaken or duplicate charges
If you were charged by mistake or twice for the same booking, email us and we'll correct it.
5. Bespoke hunts and your intake
After you pay for a Bespoke hunt, you'll be asked to fill out an intake form about your group. We use your answers to build your route, and we review each hunt by hand before it is sent to you. Please give us accurate answers, including anything that is off-limits or must be avoided, such as allergies or topics that shouldn't come up. We treat food-related off-limits items as hard restrictions, but we can't promise that every venue can accommodate every need, so please confirm directly with a venue where it matters.
Please don't put sensitive personal details in the intake form that we don't need to build the hunt. How we handle your answers is described in our Privacy Policy.
We'll email your room code and route to the address you give us. A hunt is built for the date, group, and details you gave us. Large changes after delivery may need to be treated as a new booking.
6. Playing a hunt
- Every player must accept the participant waiver before joining. If the waiver can't be saved, entry is blocked. This is on purpose.
- A parent or guardian must sign for any player under 18, and an adult must stay with them for the whole hunt.
- Your access link and room code are for your group. Please don't share them publicly or resell them.
- Stay safe. Look up when you cross streets, follow the law, and skip any clue or side quest that doesn't feel safe. Nothing in a hunt is worth an injury.
7. Venues and spending at stops
The stops on a route are independent businesses and public places. We check routes before we send them, but hours, prices, menus, payment methods, and availability can change without notice, and we don't control them. Some stops may be cash-only or have limited hours, and we flag this where we know about it. Perks offered by a venue are the venue's to give and may change or end. Vounia isn't responsible for a venue's products, service, or conduct.
8. Using the service
Please use the Service honestly and respectfully. You agree not to:
- break the law, trespass, or enter areas that are closed to the public;
- harass, endanger, or record people without their consent;
- interfere with the Service, try to break into it, or copy or scrape it;
- submit answers, photos, or other content that is unlawful, abusive, or infringes someone else's rights.
We may stop a hunt or remove a player who breaks these rules or puts others at risk. We may not owe a refund in that case.
9. Content you give us
You keep ownership of what you tell us and anything you submit, such as intake answers and any photos or videos from side quests. You give Vounia permission to use that content to build and run your hunt. If you tick the optional media box in the waiver, you also let us feature photos or videos you submit in our marketing, and you can withdraw that permission by emailing us. We won't use anything for marketing otherwise.
10. Our content
The Vounia name, logo, website, software, clues, routes, and other materials belong to Vounia LLC or its licensors. You may use them to play the hunt you booked. You may not copy, publish, resell, or build on them without our written permission.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we don't make promises that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every stop will be open or unchanged, or that a hunt will suit every group. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under law that can't be waived.
12. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Vounia LLC and its member, employees, and contractors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, arising from the Service. Our total liability for any claim connected with a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking. Injury and property claims that arise during a hunt are also covered by the participant waiver. Nothing here limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, including liability for gross negligence or intentional misconduct.
13. Governing law
New York law governs these Terms. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
14. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms. The "last updated" date at the top shows the current version, and a booking is governed by the Terms in effect when you paid. If a change is significant, we'll let existing customers know.
